Project Update

With just under two weeks to A Time with Isadora’s (ATI) performance, there is lots of news to share!

Tickets are on sale. Seating is limited for this intimate event so; we invite you to purchase tickets in advance. The performance is Thursday, September 29th at 7:00 pm at The Trolley Barn. Tickets are $25 and are available for purchase here. If available, tickets will also be sold at the door the evening of the performance.

We are grateful that ATI has been included in two fall arts previews. Cynthia Perry’s Fall Arts Preview: New and classic works reflect inquiry and rigor. This article highlights the salon-style beginnings of the revolution in dance that was facilitated by Duncan and how this phenomenon is mirrored in ATI. This week, ATI was included in ArtsATL’s The 2022 fall season preview: The arts world readies to be back in full swing. ArtsATL is a major producer of coverage of Atlanta’s thriving arts community covering Art+Design, Theater, Music, Dance, Film+TV, and Books. They also keep an extensive calendar of events for the arts community.

As is always the case, many hands make light work. For the day of the performance, September 29, ATI is looking for volunteers to help with setting up, greeting the audience and cleaning up. Volunteers receive complimentary admission to the performance. Please, visit here for a listing of opportunities with tasks and times.

Rehearsal and coaching are increasing as we near the performance. In addition to partnering with the Limón Foundation (LF), ATI is partnering with the Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation (IDDF). IDDF is facilitating the reconstruction of Narcissus, an original Duncan work, on an Atlanta dancer. Rehearsals for these works are running alongside rehearsals for the new works of the project. If you are interested in attending a rehearsal to see the process of bringing the dances to the stage, please contact Carolyn Stine McLaughlin at movementartsatl@gmail.com.

ATI is working with a group of University of Georgia students to create a documentary about ATI. Filming started in April of 2022 and has been ongoing. Small tastes of the work this talented group of students is doing can be seen on ATI social media feeds, @atimewithisadora and https://www.facebook.com/atimewithisadora. Screenings are planned for Atlanta and Athens in early February 2023.

ATI hopes that you will be a part of the conversation that this project is fostering and that it will allow you to see first-hand the influence one artist can have on many.
